Production update and Happy New Year!
over 7 years ago – Sat, Dec 31, 2016 at 08:21:29 PM

Just to get a small update in before the end of the year, I am pleased to announce that production is officially beginning on Overlords of Infamy. While we noted that we would be working with QPC during the Kickstarter, we've since changed our manufacturer to LongPack Co. We are very pleased with their work so far and we are confident that you will be as well!

I look forward to getting production pictures out to you very soon!

Until then, we here at Obscure Reference Games would like to wish you and yours a very happy New Year!

Until next year, I remain your faithful lackey,

David

New Resource and Relics!
over 7 years ago – Tue, Nov 15, 2016 at 08:41:53 PM

The absolute best thing about attending conventions and gaming shows is that I get to meet backers and fans from all over the country, and sometimes the world. Sharing a game and listening to them laugh is the absolute best feeling, and it reminds me of the very reasons I made Overlords of Infamy. I am eternally grateful for all of you wonderful backers who have supported us all this way.

Art Updates

One of the consistent suggestions we've gotten during our demos was that the resource and relic symbols needed to be cleaned up and more easily recognizable. We listened! Check out the before and after pictures below.

After:

The resource and relic updates, along with several other graphic design tweaks will make the game more accessible to all players. Another change that I am excited we are able to include are Lackey meeples of different shapes. This will allow colorblind players to differentiate between their Lackeys and those of their opponents.

Single and 5-Player

In the past, I've alluded to the possibility of increasing the player count for 4 to 5. I am happy to state that we have in fact fleshed out the rules to allow a player to be the Adventuring Hero while 1-4 other players are Evil Overlords. I am very proud of how this particular variant has turned out and I am excited to share it with you.

The Single-player variant has likewise been tested to exhaustion and works very well. Now you can play Overlords even if none of your friends are available!

Production Timeline

It's my intention to keep you updated every step of the way with the progress of production. We are nearly ready to begin the manufacturing process, but before we can, we have some final touches to work out. As soon as we are ready to begin, I will make it abundantly known.

Stan Lee's LA Comic Convention

Recently, I was able to demo at Stan Lee's Los Angeles Comic Convetion, which I highly recommend attending if given the chance. While there, I was interviewed by the Geek Say What Network's inaugural Pop-Up Podcast. They also had another guest and some great insights about the convention. You can find the podcast here, and if you like what you hear, you can support their awesome team!

That's all I have for you today. I will have another update for you as soon as I have new information.

Until then, I remain your faithful Lackey,

David

Art Updates, Conventions and Progress
over 7 years ago – Thu, Sep 01, 2016 at 10:50:34 PM

Howdy Overlords!

Last time I promised to have a meatier update for you, so I've got some new artwork to show you and information about the progress of the game. First off, a look at the board:

There will be a few more tweaks before it's finished, but this is pretty close to how the final will look.

And here are a couple of the new playmats:

We also have updated the plots and world event cards:

And lastly, here is a first look at the brand new Hero's Quests! Hero's quests are a variant to the core game in which the semi-A.I. Hero will potentially complete based on the resources salvaged from Lackeys killed or tiles "liberated". If the Hero completes one of these quests, the game becomes slightly harder for the Overlords. If the Hero completes enough of these quests, the game ends immediately!

Progress

We're nearing the beginning of manufacturing for Overlords as we get the last bits of art and graphic design updates finished. I'll have more on this soon and will let you know when manufacturing gets started!

Something we have been keeping under wraps is that while we've been tweaking the game we have actually found a way to allow for a fifth player in the game! In this scenario, 4 players would be Overlords and one person would play as the Adventuring Hero. We're still perfecting this variant, so expect more news about it soon.

Conventions

We're going to more conventions! If you are going to any of the below, let me know, cause I would love to say hi!

PAX West in Seattle, WA. : September 2nd-5th

Gateway 2016 in Los Angeles (Strategicon): September 2nd-5th

Santa Clarita Valley Comic Con: October 1st - 2nd

Stan Lee's Comikaze in Los Angeles: October 28th-30th

I'll keep you posted if any other conventions come up!

That's all I have for you today! How do you like the new artwork? Any changes you'd like to see? How's the font? We LOVE feedback, so let us know in the comments.

As always, I remain your faithful Lackey,

David

Quick Update: Gen Con!
over 7 years ago – Thu, Aug 04, 2016 at 10:11:56 PM

Hey folks! Just a quick update today, but I have a meatier update in the works for you soon.

I am going to Gen Con to hang out in the "Vast: The Crystal Caverns" booth with the awesome Patrick Leder. Feel free to come by and say hi! When I am not in that booth, I'll be showing Overlords anywhere I can sit down, so I'd be happy to play a game with anyone interested. Let me know if you'll be there!

Your faithful Lackey,

David

Quick Update
almost 8 years ago – Tue, Jul 12, 2016 at 09:45:21 PM

Hey Overlords!

Just a quick update to let you know what we’ve up to! We’re back from Origins, which was a wonderful show and a great experience. Now we’re gearing up to go to San Diego Comic Con (let us know if you’ll be there!), and David will also be at GenCon in August in case anyone wants to say hello.

We’ve been busy at home in the meantime, however! We’re finalizing a deal with a new manufacturer and testing the solo-play variant of the game. The graphic design is progressing very nicely as well, and we’re working with some writers to sharpen up the text and rulebooks.

In the next update I promise to have some new artwork to show you and a bit more news following SDCC and GenCon.

Pre-orders

In case one of your friends missed the Kickstarter campaign, fear not! Pre-orders are still available through BackerKit!

Got any questions for us? Let us know in the comments and we’re happy to answer what we can!

Until next time, I remain your faithful Lackey,

David
